SgoL May 2012 President's Message

Happy Spring! The girls are seriously springing into action with their community service. Last month we debuted our back patch and the girls are eager to earn one of their own. Some of the requirements to earning a back patch besides being a full member is that you have to attend ten SgoL events and take lead on a project. So, suffice it to say, we have a lot planned for our very near future.
Saturday, the 12th of May, our girl ReeseyMay has spearheaded our presence and service at the CSPC’s Health Sexuality Day. It’s from 10am – 2pm and it’s highly encouraged to schedule your mammogram ahead of time. This will also be the kick off to our towel drive for the Salvation Army Women’s Shelter. The drive is being led by Passion. Please bring a towel, a smile, and some questions because this is sure to be an educationally fun event.
On Earth Day the girls attended a stewardship day at the Longhouse and helped to get the grounds in shape for this summer’s upcoming Paradise Unbound campout. The stewardship fell on a brilliantly warm day and we felt energized by the scintillating power of the sun and sprit from our Mother Earth. The Longhouse is a spiritual property and I surely felt a higher purpose while planting my first tree.
The last two invasions planned by our Lady Vi were a total blast! On St. Patrick’s Day the girls got gussied up and went bowling for our Leather Leprechaun Invasion of the The Garage on Capitol Hill. While bowling shoes are not the hottest, it sure didn’t stop the giggles and squeals! Yes we can throw strike outs in miniskirts! In April, we invaded Bar Myx’s kink night in Everett. There were rafters, stripper poles, and even a St. Andrews to boot. They are sure to still be talking about us in Everett. Soooo much fun!
We had our second slumber party Easter Weekend. The bad little bunnies found Easter eggs with hidden messages telling them to do something naughty and nice. There were prizes, cake, and boat loads of cackles!
SavannaLurve is organizing a painting party and placing an order for some lovely Leather girl corsets from the magnificent Ms. Martha. The girls will be taking the kitchen at the Salvation Army’s Women Shelter on Capitol Hill from a pea green to beautiful beige.
The Producers Collective has named The Seattle girls of Leather the beneficiary of their annual fundraiser. We will be at Neighbors Night Club on Thursday, June 14th from 7:00- 10:00pm. This will be the official Pride Kickoff party for The Seattle Girls of Leather and the end of our towel drive. $5 off admission if you bring a bath towel.
On March 25th, WSMLO gave the Leather Emerald Award to us for our extraordinary support, efforts and extended contributions to the Washington State Leather Community. We are truly honored and offer most sincere thanks. We love our community and will continue to serve it with our great girl sprit.
Keep your ears and eyes peeled for our presence at Seattle’s Pride and Slutwalk, a bikini car wash, a Leather girl calendar, and oil wrestling!
SgoL was started in order to bring together like minded Leathergirls, providing a safe space where we could come, ask questions, socialize together, provide service to the community and have light hearted camaraderie. SgoL has adapted almost everything we have from the SFgoL. While we are a club, we are still a professional organization and will continue to carry ourselves as such. We might not be a good fit for everyone, but we sure hope that we can bestow you with a smile or two. September will mark a year in service for the SgoL. We have grown, changed, and adapted so much in just eight short months. I love and adore what the club has grown into and I look forward to what the future has in store for us.

President’s Message
March 2012
My last message in November 2011 let you all know about all the amazing things that had happened in the fall of 2011. Just when I thought SgoL couldn’t possibly top all that activity, the members of SgoL have yet again surpassed all my wildest dreams and have been busy indeed!
Over Thanksgiving Weekend, SgoL was of service at the Seattle Daddy/Daddy's boy contest held at The Cuff. The toiletry drive concluded during the contest and attendee’s helped us out immensely with their generous donations. Special props to Nix for doing such a great job as the Judge’s Runner.
On December 3, SgoL attended Hot Flash Inferno. Hot Flash is an over-40’s, all women’s dance event. It was a blast! We raffled off some great prizes and shook our collective booties all over Neighbors Nightclub. Lady Vi was back with her tantalizing spanking booth and
New Year’s Eve was quite the event for SgoL. We hosted the big bash at the CSPC. It was a magnificent evening! Everyone who attended raved about the night. Marfim did a great job with coordinating the volunteers and staff.
From the beautiful decorations and atmosphere created by Mare and her crew, to the delectable food created by GirlonFire, to the great entertainment provided by DJ’s Mariu5, D.J. Ren 1, and DJ t333bone, and the delightfully sexy performances by burlesque performers led by Luscious Lady Pop. It was a fantastic evening capped off by dancing and a very busy dungeon full of great play.
February 4th brought SgoL to Bang for the Buck and the funny rendition of LMFAO’s “Sexy and I Know It” brought SgoL a third place finish their first time at Bang. We also did our first Leathergirl Invasion at The Wildrose. We had a blast doing a train through the bar and eliciting laughter from the other patrons. Every month, SgoL will be “invading” some bar, restaurant, or event in the area, bringing our special brand of fun to the community.
SgoL was honored to receive the 2011 Group of the Year award from the CSPC during the annual volunteer recognition event and the 2011 Emerald Community Service Award from WSMLO. I’m so proud of SgoL and so pleased that our girls have been recognized for the hard work they have done over the past year. We are all motivated to make 2012 an even bigger and better year.

The past two months have been rocking for the SgoL!
In August, we kicked off our Toiletry Drive - which will conclude Thanksgiving Day Weekend at the Seattle Daddy/Daddy's boy contest. We've been so fortunate to have the support of the community, including the stores that have been carrying our donation buckets and collecting toiletries. Thanks so much to Wild at Heart, The Crypt, Lover's Lair, The Wild Rose, Trendy Wendy, Dog House Leathers, and the CSPC. We are so excited to be able to provide much needed supplies to the women and children benefited by the local Salvation Army.
Our very own Ruin ran for and earned the title of Northwest Community Bootblack! Ruin will do a great job representing not only the bootblacking community, but the Leathergirl community as well.
In October, SgoL held a painting party at the Longhouse - site of the annual Paradise conference. Earlier this year, a special cabin for Allena Gabosch (Executive Director of the Center for Sex Positive Culture) was built and it needed to be painted before the Autumn weather moved in! Mare and I set up muffins and coffee for the girls and, despite the drizzle, we prepped for painting. We had a moment of thankfulness for everyone who had made the cabin project a reality and took all the love and energy into our work in taping and painting. All the girls who participated wrote messages of love and prosperity directly onto the walls of the cabin. Special Shout-Outs to Ruin for her vision, to Nirav for the opportunity to have SgoL be of service to the community, to George for all of his guidance and assistance in making the project happen and to Mare for being an awesome project manager.
October 29th at the CSPC, SgoL hosted a fantastic Halloween Party - the "All Hallow's Eve Masquerade of Decadence". The event was a smashing success! 150 people joined us in an evening of fun and decadence. We had a spread of food, costume contest, DJ's playing great music, a spanking booth, a professional photographer, At times there were people lined up out the door and there were often people lined up to play in the Raw Space. We couldn't have been happier. Mare did an amazing job with setting the stage and having a vision for the decorations. The set-up and tear-down crews worked swiftly and joyfully. Special thanks for Lady Vi for running the spanking booth, and GirlonFire, Seven, Passion, and Bea for all their hard work, SgoL's share of the door went to the Washington State Ms. Leather travel fund.
In November, SgoL hosted the Friday night hospitality suite at Leather Reign. It was a tremendous success and TinyDancer's tasty creations were a huge hit! SgoL was also able to continue the toiletry drive at the host hotel - what a perfect place to get travel size toiletries! Special thanks to Marfim, Miss Momma Kat, Mare, and Becca for their service and to Miranda for taking the lead and coordinating.
SgoL has contributed an auction basket for the auction fundraiser for the Foundation for Sex Positive Culture and I'm looking forward to attending the event on November 19.
Thanksgiving Weekend, SgoL will be of service at the Seattle Daddy/Daddy's boy contest.
On December 3, SgoL will be participating at Hot Flash Inferno. We will be having a raffle, Lady Vi will be back with the spanking booth, and generally bringing a hot Leathergirl presence to this all-women's dance.
And, on the heels of the success of the Halloween party, SgoL was invited to host the CSPC New Year's Eve Party. We are so excited about this opportunity. Special thanks to GirlonFire and Marfim for being the coordinators. We are looking forward to having a fantastic send off for the year and hope that we'll see all of you there!
In just a few short months, SgoL has really made the Leathergirl presence known in the Seattle area. I am constantly impressed with the ideas, energy, and enthusiasm that SgoL members (and their Master's, Daddies, Tops, Sirs, Mistresses, boys, girls, partners) bring to each and every event.

It is my absolute honor to have been elected as the first president of The Seattle girls of Leather. I am pleased to announce your 2011-2012 steering committee.
Vice President: Mare
Secretary: GirlonFire

It is such a blessing to see my vision come to fruition. A few months ago I attended IMsL in San Francisco. My Daddy, Spencer (a former IMsL) had not been in awhile & it was my first time. We had an absolute blast and were impressed with how the traditions are being upheld. It felt different than Seattle (where I live now) and different than LA (where I used to live). I felt I was amongst family - strongly bonded Leather family. There was a fierce girl presence that I had never seen or felt before. I had suddenly stumbled across what was missing from my Leather lifestyle & journey - family and girl power.
The San Francisco girls of Leather were everywhere. I wanted to join and come down monthly just to feel this energy. They were alive & freakin' kickin'! When I came home to Seattle & went to my first kink event since IMsL, I was sadly disappointed. I missed that energy that SFgoL brought. I whined to my Daddy and told him again that I really wished we had a Leathergirl group here. He, being the awesome Daddy that he is, said "start one". So I did and 6 months later we have 20 full members and 95 supporters.
Part of what I witnessed at IMsL and what I've felt was missing here at home was a sense of unity. I know for many that term is overused but....it really reflects what I have felt was missing. Everything feels so separated & segregated - especially where gender & sexual orientation are key. There is a gap in the Leather community here in the PNW. Right now the gay men, pansexuals, sex positive, lesbians, and transgender people all play in separate corners. It is my hope that SgoL can can help to create bridges and that the Seattle Leathergirls are welcomed everywhere. And beyond that, by giving girls leadership roles and encouraging them to take lead in projects they are learning first hand what it means to be a Leathergirl.
The Seattle girls rock. Twenty four rsvp'd to the slumber party and all 24 came! We are currently holding a toiletry drive benefiting the Salvation Army Women's program. We were of service the NW LeatherSir, boy and Community Bootblack contest. We are planning on painting Allena's cabin at The Longhouse. We're hosting hospitality Friday night at Leather Reign V. The girls are throwing an "All Hallow's Eve Masquerade of Decadence" on October 29 at The CSPC. SgoL's share of the door will go to the Washington State Ms. Leather travel fund.
There are many other things in the works, and we've only just begun.
I'm very excited to see what the future will hold and to be able to report to you every month on what an amazing group of women are part of SgoL and the amazing things we're doing.
